Audi Emissions Test National Class Action
CONSUMER LAW GROUP is investigating the launched a Canada-wide class action lawsuit in Ontario and Quebec against car maker Audi on behalf of owners and lessees of diesel vehicles.
The class action is based on Audi's representations that their diesel vehicles were "clean" and "low emission", while equipping their cars with illegal software designed to falsify the vehicles’ emissions. The software automatically detects when a vehicle is undergoing emissions testing and activates the full emissions control system. Then, as soon as the test is over, the software switches the vehicles back into “road calibration,” eliminating some pollution controls. In other words, when the vehicles are actually driven (as opposed to being tested), they emit ten to forty times the lawful amount of nitrogen oxide — a pollutant that contributes to smog and serious health problems.
The cars involved include [the "Defeat Vehicles"]:
• 2009-2015 Audi A1
• 2009-2015 Audi A3
