Schecter v. Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-00246
CONSUMER LAW GROUP is investigating a class action lawsuit against Mitsubishi on behalf of individuals who owned and/or leased a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV model years 2023 and 2024.
A potential defect with the battery installed in these vehicles causes issues with the ignition, particularly in cold-weather conditions, such that they may not start or cannot be operated. This has been leaving class members without a functional vehicle during the winter months.
More specifically, the defect exists due to the lack of a battery heating component, which can affect charging speed, capacity, and battery degradation.
Mitsubishi internal documents acknowledge the issue, but it has done nothing to fix the problem.
By reason of the design defect, members of the class have suffered the following damages:
(a) Purchased and/or leased defective vehicles that contained defective batteries;
(b) Diminished value of their vehicles;
(c) Loss of use of the defective vehicles and expenditures for rental vehicles;
(d) Out-of-pocket loss relating to diagnosis, repairs, replacement parts, and towing;
(e) Pain, suffering, trouble and inconvenience.
A class action has been filed in the United States alleging substantially similar allegations: Schecter v. Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-00246, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
